Back in June, WT’s Lucy spent a satisfyingly crafty day in at Sew Not Strawberry Jam’s fabulous workshop near Tenterden making a summer tunic dress. After cutting, pinning, machining and overlocking, she left with a super piece which felt like it was made professionally enough to have been bought from a shop. She was very proud indeed!

A range of courses, from curtain making to screen printing and embroidery, are run throughout the year under the watchful eye of owner Sam, and various guest tutors, who share their crafting expertise. Book onto SNSJ’s A-Line Winter Tunic Dress course on 1 November to create your own easy to make and wear classic sleeveless A line tunic or dress. Just like Lucy did, you’ll try on a ready made toile to size before choosing from wools, heavy weight linens, corduroy, or boiled wool and learn how to construct the dress from a pattern. At the end of the day you will leave with a ready to wear garment. The course costs £50 (a charge for materials will apply, or bring your own fabric).
