We hear about Kent College Pembury from the Head, Miss Katrina Handford
Kent College Pembury is a school which ensures every student, whether they are 3 or 18 years of age, succeeds above and beyond their potential. Whatever a student’s strength, the environment and opportunities at Kent College provide the perfect setting to stretch, challenge and champion them to thrive. A whole school, community approach nurtures confidence and unleashes talent.
A recent whole school spectacle of Carnival of the Animals saw students through from Nursery to Sixth Form, showcasing their musical, artistic and creative talents with a repertoire of musical pieces from a range of genres from baroque to rock scattered in amongst performances of their own poetry. The Countess of Wessex theatre was festooned with art from every year group, sculptures, ceramics, paintings and drawings. The students wowed the audience not just with their many and varied talents, but because of their confident and poised approach. The support, mentoring and encouragement from the older students was clear to see, alongside the camaraderie between the year groups.
This whole school approach and learning from one another happens across many elements of school life from peer mentoring programmes, peer-led mental health schemes, buddy schemes and anti-bullying ambassadors.
Above all, cross-year group activities and whole school events foster a warm community spirit where all the kind, compassionate and unique individuals, each with their own characters, personalities and strengths, come together to celebrate learning and growth.
Come and see for yourself at our open events this Autumn.
