Kent College Senior School

Kent College is an outstanding day and boarding school that celebrates both its 130 years of history and tradition, and its forward-looking innovative approach to education. It has a reputation as a friendly school, and is most definitely a place where teachers really get to know the pupils, with the time and space to give individual attention, both academically and pastorally. On the outskirts of the historic city of Canterbury, Kent College Senior School provides a safe, healthy and beautiful environment for pupils to grow up. The school sits in 80 acres (32 hectares) of land with extensive sports fields, as well as the Farm and Riding Centre.

Kent College prides itself on offering personalised academic programmes, small class sizes and an exceptionally well-qualified and experienced teaching staff. Pupils achieve excellent academic results at GCSE, A level, and in the International Baccalaureate (IB), with 100% pass rates for GCSE and A level. An average point score of 37 in the IB consistently places Kent College in the top 10 IB schools in the UK. The school also offers a wide range of additional support for pupils, including access to a dyslexia unit.

The performing arts are a particular strength at Kent College, with an impressive line-up of vocal and instrumental ensembles, and many opportunities to perform for all ages and abilities. An exciting new development is the construction of the Great Hall, a state-of-the-art 600-seat auditorium, due to open in Summer 2019.

In sport, the aim is to provide something for every pupil, from recreational sport to top-level coaching for our elite players. Hockey and cricket are particular strengths, with regular representation by Kent College pupils in county and national squads. There is also a wide-ranging list of activities and clubs on offer for all pupils, including a full Duke of Edinburgh programme, and the opportunity to work on the school Farm.

Garden Cottage Nursery

Set in the idyllic surroundings of the Kent College Junior school in Harbledown. The nursery provides a caring foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow in a safe, secure and happy environment.

The Lodge, opened in February 2018, used to form the gatehouse to the estate of the Victorian artist Sydney Cooper. It has been refurbished to the highest standards to create a homely and nurturing environment for babies and toddlers. The building has been fitted out to provide a flexible and homely space, opening out onto a garden and all-weather learning area. Children are able to develop their skills and imaginations in the  role-play kitchen, and the conservatory area is used for messy and physical play. The Lodge accommodates up to 12 babies and toddlers at any one time.

Our older toddlers are placed in The Cottage which was opened in September 2018 and overlooks the school grounds and neighbouring fruit orchard. The brand new, modern environment has been created for small groups. The fun design is bright and fresh, with more muted tones for the sleeping area. Children have direct access to a large outside all-weather play area with a wide variety of play equipment.

Garden Cottage Nursery combines the best practice and standards of nursery childcare with the individual attention of a nanny or childminder. The team of highly experienced and dedicated staff offers a service that is tailored to the needs of the individual child, and to the requirements of their parents.
