Tonbridge’s First Years spent a night in the Quad during the summer term as they took part in the annual Sleepout. The boys were raising funds for Porchlight, a Kent-based charity which helps people facing the devastating effects of homelessness, and to date the event has raised more than £23,500. The Quad was transformed into a cardboard city, with groups building shelters and gaining

insights into the reality of life on the streets as they tried to settle down on a wet night. Boys also heard talks on the subject, and were asked to write about their experiences. “Lasting just one night was much harder than I expected, and I feel a new level of awareness,” wrote one student.
