200g cooked peas

1 garlic clove, crushed

1tbsp tahini

squeeze of lemon

50g chickpeas from a can

2tbsp olive oil

1 packet of charcoal crackers to serve

5 radishes to garnish

Nicci Gurr shares a tempting Christmas cracker canape recipe, easy to make and guaranteed to please peckish guests.

  1. Blitz in a food processor all the ingredients (except crackers and radishes). For a more rustic, less smooth finish mash with a fork.
  2. Place the hummus mix onto the crackers.
  3. Finish with a quarter of radish on each cracker.

Wine+

This canapé has lots of Mediterranean-inspired ingredients in it, so we looked for a delicious rosé to match. The Wine Society do a lovely Corsican Rosé 2017 (£9.95). It’s a blend of native Corsican grape varieties and packs lots of Mediterranean flavours in. Rosé is normally the drink of summer, but the colour of this one would look great served at Christmas.

Daisy cupcakes

These are an indulgent treat after the fasting of Lent. Change the amount of buttercream if needed – the ratio is twice the amount of icing sugar to butter, which makes it easy to adjust.
