Do you have a beauty routine? The foundation of my beauty routine is quality sleep and drinking plenty of water. I’m an early riser and also a rower (getting up early at the weekends between 5-6am), so, in order to get the amount of sleep I need, I go to bed at 9pm for at least three nights a week. Drinking plenty of water is essential for my skin. I hydrate as soon as I wake and drink 2-3 litres of water every day. I always drink water before I eat because caring for your digestion is important for good skin health.
Do you have a particular product you couldn’t do without? There are many products that I can’t live without, but if I had to pick one, it would be 50 + waterproof sunscreen for my face, neck and chest. I believe sun exposure in small amounts at non-peak times is healthy, it energises us and we make vitamin D in our skin, but the skin on your face, neck and chest is sensitive and vulnerable to damage, so it’s important to invest in a very good product. I use Obagi Medical Sun Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 50 – Matte.
What’s your ultimate pampering treat? My ultimate pampering treat is a two hour, full body aromatherapy massage using oils tailored to how I’m feeling at the time. The oils are organic and have health benefits when they’re absorbed into the skin. The treatment’s deeply relaxing and I have one every month. We live busy lives with minds which are constantly working, so it’s vital to make sure we get enough rest to balance our hormones, help our skin and work to maintain flexibility in all the joints in our body.
Who’s your style icon? My style icon is Marilyn Monroe because of her feminine style and softness. Her ability to present herself in a way that expressed who she was, was very natural and I love that. This is my favourite quote of hers: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
