What are the responsibilities of being head student?
As head boy, I must represent the thoughts and feelings of the students to the headmaster, in particular any minority views should be acknowledged and heard. In addition to this I am an ambassador for the school and must set the standard for the rest of the students.
What qualities do you bring to the role?
I am an enthusiastic individual who gets involved in the wide variety of school societies. I do my best to uphold The Hurst values: ‘Work hard, Do good and Engage’.
What do you enjoy most about being head boy?
I enjoy meeting and touring prospective parents around the college, showing off the facilities and introducing the families to other students.
What are the greatest challenges of being head boy?
The greatest challenge is time. It is always tough to fit in all the various commitments and, in particular, speak to everyone involved in the many and varied activities that take place.
What’s your favourite subject at school?
My favourite subject is currently A-level sociology. I find it interesting to apply the concepts learned in the classroom to wider society, of which we are all a part.
What do you hope to do after you leave school?
I am hoping to study criminology at university, I have made an application to join the Army as an officer and after university I hope to go to Sandhurst and begin my officer training.
What is your favourite thing about your school?
Dance. I have been fortunate to be involved in some fantastic dance shows including taking a lead role in our dance production of Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella.
